PRESCRIPTIONS

A $25 charge applies for prescriptions ordered through your pharmacy without a doctor visit. However, if you choose to pay the annual fee, there will be a charge per prescription.

Prescription refills without a visit are not covered by OHIP. Unlike pharmacies, doctors’ offices don’t receive dispensing fees or government/insurance support for this service.

We receive many pharmacy requests daily, which are time-consuming for staff and doctors.

Please try to manage refills during routine appointments. This frees up slots for urgent cases needing immediate care, not just prescription renewals. Keep this in mind during your next visit.

Prescription refills will take approximately 14 days to process so please keep this is mind when requesting refills from your pharmacy.

Pharmacists can extend prescriptions for a few months if needed. Don’t hesitate to ask them.

Prescription Renewals without an Appointment

Starting 1st December 2025, there will be a fee for prescription renewal requests without an office visit. With the Annual Block Fee, faxed renewal requests, whether from you or your pharmacy, are covered; otherwise, a fee applies per renewal. To avoid pharmacy auto-fax requests, notify your pharmacy. You can also book an appointment for a free renewal, but this must be scheduled 3-4 weeks before your medication runs out.
